Alturas supports research on a national scale as well as local community programs through participation in charitable events, matching gifts, and volunteerism.

Our goal is to build an enduring company of integrity in an environment that provides rewarding career paths, and empowers individuals to engage in the well-being of the communities in which they reside.

We seek to inspire the next generation of scientists through involvement of educational programs at every level. From making science fun for elementary-aged students, active participation in science fairs and guest lecturing at the undergraduate university level, we are stepping towards fostering a generation where science is exciting and an integral component of everyday life.

In addition to company support for community programs, Alturas offers employees paid time-off for individual volunteer activities and matching monetary donations to numerous 501(c)(3) organizations.

OUR COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY

Developing life-saving therapies requires global cooperation from all facets of the pharmaceutical industry and its supporting industries as well. Coordination of this magnitude is reliant on transportation, chemical, energy, and supply consumption – all contributors to a less desirable carbon footprint. Alturas is acutely focused on reducing our footprint to responsibly offset the effects of our industry to the environment.

Laboratory plastics do not need to end up in the land fill. We can make a difference. Alturas recycles roughly 1.5 tons of plastic annually, saving it from the landfill. Alturas participates in the following programs:

  • TREX recycling of all clean plastics – community campaign donation ~20 lbs. per month
  • All clean #5 plastics ~300 lbs. per month
  • Battery and Shoe Recycling programs – twice a year
  • Self-propel program – employees receive a bonus when they ride/walk/run/ski to work
