Alturas Analytics has developed a rapid and rugged LC/MS/MS method for detecting Ethoxyquin down to 50 ppb in both liquid and solid samples.

Overview of Method
A sample of liquid or solid is analyzed for ethoxyquin using a fully validated HPLC/MS/MS method. The sample containing ethoxyquin is extracted with an organic solvent. Following centrifugation and/or evaporation, the sample is injected onto a SCIEX API 3000 LC/MS/MS in positive ion mode equipped with a short HPLC column.

The highly selective and sensitive MS/MS monitoring allows detection limits of 50 ppb in less than 2 minutes/sample. The HPLC/MS/MS method is much more selective than conventional HPLC methods (fluorescence, UV, etc.) thus false negatives are not detected and turn-around times are decreased significantly. Same day turn-around times are available upon request.
