Fighting Terrorism Using LC/MS/MS
After a formal GLP audit, Alturas Analytics has been chosen by the US Army to develop rapid and sensitive GLP HPLC/MS/MS methods. These methods are used to determine low level blood concentrations of an antidote to chemical warfare agents. See our poster at ASMS, Time Slot/Poster Number: 311 entitled: A Novel Method for the HPLC/MS/MS Quantitative Analysis of Pyridostigmine, a Pretreatment Compound for Chemical Warfare Agents, in Guinea Pig and Mouse Plasma.
Alturas Exhibits at ASMS
Please visit our booth (#61) at the 50th Annual ASMS Conference June 2-6, 2002 in Orlando, Florida. Alturas will also be presenting two posters at ASMS: Time Slot/Poster Numbers 202 and 311.
Validated Assay List Continually Expanding
Alturas has added another validated assay to our list for midazolam and 1-hydroxymidazolam in human plasma. This is the first method shown to measure both midazolam and 1-hydroxymidazolam in one assay at these low levels. Alturas will also be presenting these data at ASMS, Time Slot/Poster Number 202 entitled: Method Validation for the Simultaneous HPLC/MS/MS Quantitation of Midazolam and 1-Hydroxymidazolam in Human Plasma.
Northwest LC/MS Discussion Group
Alturas Analytics is soliciting LC/MS users in the Pacific Northwest who would be interested in forming/attending a quarterly LC/MS discussion group. For more information please contact Robin Woods at rwoods@alturasanalytics.com
LC/MS Tech Tips
LC/MS/MS is an extremely selective tool for bioanalysis thus endogenous interferences are rarely detected. However, good sample preparation and good chromatography are still essential for a successful analysis. Co-extracted endogenous solutes not chromatographically separated from the compound of interest in an LC/MS/MS analysis can cause adverse effects such as ionization suppression. Thus, we recommend a selective extraction such as liquid-liquid or SPE and a chromatographic separation that gives a retention factor of at least 2 for the compound of interest.
Alturas Exhibits and Presents at the NW Regional ACS Meeting
in Spokane, WA
Alturas will be exhibiting at the Northwest Regional ACS Meeting on June 19th ß 21st 2002 in Spokane, WA on the Gonzaga University campus. Plan to stop by our booth on Thursday, June 20th from 11am to 2 pm. Alturas will also be presenting a poster entitled: The HPLC/MS/MS Analysis of an Antidote to Chemical Warfare Agents, Pyridostigmine, in Guinea Pig and Mouse Plasma.
Open House at Alturas Analytics
Located in the Alturas Technology Park in Moscow, Idaho, Alturas will be having an open house June 27th, 2002 5-7pm. Snacks provided and door prizes! Alturas will present a Chemistry show by Dr. Shane Needham.
